Our 1,250 sq. ft. cabin is located on almost 11 acres with a seasonal creek running through it. There are 2 bedrooms 1 bath with upstairs loft. Inside there is wood burning stove, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. In winter we have an assortment of snow toys in garage and in summer the patio equipped with outdoor furniture and BBQ.

Summer and fall have been fabulous up on the summit, but we are looking forward to a winter with BIG snow! It is just magical up here, with snows sometimes accumulating to between fifteen and twenty feet. Going beyond some short term rentals, we have made a number of changes for your health, safety, and confidence, during COVID, including: -no more back-to-back reservations...so at least 30 hours between guests; -we are significantly upgrading the work of an already outstanding cleaning crew to include sanitizing and disinfecting all touch surfaces—counters, handles, switches, controls; -at least for a while, we’re putting away decorative extra pillows and throws; -a few throws that we have brought back for winter on the deck, around the fire pit, are separated with a disinfectant after every guest stay; -all comforter covers and even mattress pads (along with normal sheets and pillowcases) will be washed after every guest. Make reservations now, while prime weeks are still available during the snow season, December through mid-April. We are finding that people are making inquiries, then their dates are getting taken if they don’t book right away. We know that is frustrating! Serene Lakes remains the best kept secret in the Tahoe National Forest. While Truckee and Tahoe are crawling with people, our little community serves as a quiet, peaceful, safe get away. Tucked behind Soda Springs in a surprisingly level little hollow surrounding two natural, clear, clean spring-fed lakes, we are a perfect family retreat. All winter the lakes are frozen over, appearing as snow covered meadows to be crossed via XC skis or snow shoes. You can play volleyball, fish, paddle canoes across the lake to the little islands. You can hike or mountain bike from the cabin door through the sierra meadows or up the mountains for breathtaking views. Use the kayak to get out on the lake and swim in the fresh mountain water. To make your stay more comfortable, we have added the following brand new small appliances: 13-cup food processor with spiralizer, blender with smoothie attachment, ex-large electric griddle, 12-cup coffee maker. The house also has an espresso machine, slow cooker (4-qt), 4-slice toaster, pressure cooker, immersion blender with egg beater attachment, fresh organic spices, Himalayan salt and pepper grinders, and basic condiments (organic mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, olive oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil; soy sauce and canola oil). Wood for wood burning stove is included. We also have a 51-Liter Igloo cooler, 2 beach umbrellas, and 2 beach chairs, and 3 camping chairs available for guests to use. There’s a bathroom in between the two bedrooms with 2 sinks, a shower, and a toilet (no tub). Downstairs rooms: master bedroom on the left with Eastern king and a private bathroom with 1 sink, a shower, and a toilet (no tub). The right side downstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a full/full bunk. There’s a bathroom in between the two bedrooms with 2 sinks and a bathtub with a shower and a toilet. There is also a loft where people can sleep on air mattresses. Parking available on the street and driveway in the summer. In the winter, there is no parking allowed on the street because of county snow removal. The driveway can fit 4 cars. Winters: Vehicles must have 4x4 with snow tires or have chains available if necessary. Due to the extreme amount of snow that Donner Summit can get, there will be an on-site manager during the snow season who will stay in the basement in-law unit who will snowblow/shovel the deck and walkway. Infants (under 2 years) are free and do not count towards the number of guests. The base rate is for 10 guests, there is an additional $50 per night guest fee beyond 10. It will automatically calculate when the search is for more than 10 guests. Cleaning fee covers 9 hours of cleaning. Host is covering the cost of 1 hour for the final COVID-19 wipe-down. If the cleaning exceeds 10 hours, there will be a fee of $40 per hour requested through the resolution center after the cleaning has been completed (paid directly to the cleaners). Sierra Retreat Our Serene Lakes cabin is located in an idyllic setting for year-round family fun. It is one block from the lakes and a short walk to the beach at Ice Lakes Lodge. There are many activities close by to enjoy in both summer and winter. In the summer, the beach is a great place for kids play. Swimming is allowed in the larger lake and non-motorized boats can be used in both. There are also many hiking and biking trails in the area. We are minutes from several ski resorts. Sugar Bowl, Soda Springs and Boreal are all conveniently located within a few miles drive. Royal Gorge is home to some of the best cross country skiing in the world. Its trails wind around the neighborhood and the Royal Gorge trail head is a short walk from our front door. Our bright and sunny cabin sleeps eight comfortably, (two queen sized beds, one full bed, and a set of twin bunk beds) and can accommodate three additional guests on two pullout sofa beds. The master bedroom looks out over woodland and the two upstairs bedrooms also have great views. We have conventional propane heating, plus a log fireplace in the great room for cozy winter evenings. The two lounge areas in the great room are perfect to gather your family around a board game or movie, and it opens out onto a wide deck. We have a large, well-equipped kitchen that has all the amenities for family cooking. Our dining table easily seats ten. Other features include a foosball table, Wi-Fi access to DSL internet, a full size washer/dryer, and large single-car garage.
